We opened Kappo Yoshiba in 1983 (Showa 58) upon being given the name of the 43rd yokozuna Yoshibayama and kept the original form of the old Miyagino Stable of the time. The historic all-cypress building with the devotion to the essence of Japanese architecture, the dohyo (sumo ring) where the sumo wrestlers dedicated themselves to training, and the Sumo Jinku (sumo-themed songs) that echo throughout the store add color to the dishes.
We are sure that you will be able to fully enjoy the sumo atmosphere and elegance along with the fresh ingredients fitting a direct retailer of a wholesale company in the Toyosu Fish market, the proficient skills of the chefs, and Kappo Yoshiba's special flavors.
We are looking forward to your visit.
Kappo Yoshiba
Kappo Yoshiba's uniqueness
What we take utmost pride in the fact that we use fresh ingredients delivered directly from Toyosu every day. We are proud to say that we feel this is only possible because we are a direct retailer of a wholesale company in the Toyosu Fish market.
Our second source of pride is the dishes created by our very experienced chefs. From the Chanko Nabe (hot pot) to a la carte dishes, the chefs bring out the best flavors of the fresh ingredients with their expertise, yet what we take pride in the most are the nabe dishes in which we utilize our own original techniques; we have complete confidence in our dashi (stock). In fact, clients have stated their desire to take home just the dashi.
